Undergraduate Research Lecture Series

Two eminent researchers in the field of Species Interactions and Evolution, Drs. Nancy Moran and Naomi Pierce, will present their research in back-to-back talks, followed by a moderated question and answer session.

Date: April 2, 2009

Time: 3:00-5:00 pm
Location: Natural Sciences Building Auditorium
Refreshments will be served

As part of the dialogue with the audience, the researchers will reflect about their different research approaches and by doing so help students appreciate that discoveries – the outcome of scientific inquiries - are shaped by the type of research questions asked and the methodology applied to solve them. This session will also highlight the fact that the communication of research findings to the community of researchers is an integral part of understanding and confirming scientific data and their interpretation. Last, but by no means least, this session will allow undergraduates to get to know the researchers on a personal level. Drs. Pierce and Moran will talk about career challenges and the ups and downs of conducting research in highly competitive fields.
